Plant Description

Origin: Native
General Description: Evergreen. The non or short-trunked specimens form a rosette of 3 feet long stiff leaves, topped in spring with 3 to 4 feet tall spikes of white flowers that are often pink to purple in bud.
Height: 3 feet     Width: 3 feet


Habitat

Plant Communities: Interior Chaparral, Semidesert Grasslands, Pinyon Juniper Woodland, Montane Conifer Forest
Elevation: 3000 - 6500 feet


Flower Characteristics

Color: White   Shape: Bell-shaped in elongated clusters     Tubular: N   Flowering Period: Mar - Jun
Description: From the center of the leaves a flower stalk emerges in early spring and grows rapidly to about 3 or 4 feet. A long cluster of very handsome sphere-shaped flowers follow.

Description: Leaves are a delicate light green, 7 to 24 inches long and quite narrow.
