Origin: Native   Life Cycle: Annual
General Desc: Erect stems with many branches and narrow leaves.
Height: 8 to 24 inches


Habitat

Habitat Description: Lava beds, rocky sites, grasslands, oak, pine-oak, and pine woodlands.
Plant Communities: Interior Chaparral, Semidesert Grasslands, Pinyon Juniper Woodland, Montane Conifer Forest
Elevation: 3600 - 8200 feet


Flower Characteristics

Color: White or yellowish-white     Shape: Daisy or Dandelion-like in round clusters     Tubular: N     Flowering Period: Aug - Nov
Description: Atop the stems are clusters of pointed oval-shaped flower heads, each containing many tiny flowers.


Leaf and Stem Characteristics

Leaf Color: Grayish-green     Leaf Type: Simple     Leaf Shape: Narrow     Leaf Margin: Smooth     Leaf Attachment: Alternate     Leaves Clasp: N
Hairs: Leaves and stems     Spines: N
Leaf Description: Leaves are 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches long, with the leaf base extending downward along the stem, but not clasping.
