Origin: Native   Life Cycle: Perennial
General Desc: An erect and spreading perennial with rhizomes bearing tubers.
Height: 1 foot


Habitat Description: Coniferous forests, clearings and wooded slopes.
Plant Communities: Montane Conifer Forest
Elevation: 5500 - 8500 feet

Flower Characteristics

Color: White     Shape: Irregular in clusters     Tubular: N     Flowering Period: Jul - Sep
Description: Corolla is deeply lobed. Has 5 orange stamens. To 3/4 inch wide appearing in loose clusters with few to several flowers per cluster.

Leaf and Stem Characteristics

Leaf Color: Dark green     Leaf Type: Compound     Leaf Shape: Narrow     Leaf Margin: Smooth     Leaf Attachment: Alternate     Leaves Clasp: N
Hairs: Leaves     Spines: N
Leaf Description: Leaflets are linear-oblong to lanceolate. To 4-3/4 inches long and pinnately compound with 5 to 9 leaflets. Leaflets are 2-1/2 inches long. Lower surface has small hairs.

Fruit Notes: Spherical in shape to 4/10 inch in diameter.
